Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Dolomite Marble 1 Massive Host

Lithology Comments

Nov 06, 2013 (A Wilson) - The dolomite marble is coarse-grained and forms a 500 m by 1000m block within the Denna Lake Structural Complex. The rock has not been evaluated for it’s potential as a building stone.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 06, 2013 (A Wilson) - Field personnel noted approximately 1% graphite in outcrop on the south shore of Sam’s Lake. A grab sample collected by the OGS contained 0.7% non-carbonate carbon. Much of the crystalline limestone in the Township of Lutterworth constitutes a veritable marble, as on lot 19 of concessions IV and V, and on lot 20 of concession V. This limestone would yield excellent lime, and would afford a fine material for building stone. It is, however, rather coarse-grained for very fine work, or for statuary purposes.
