Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Pegmatite 1 Granite Host
Pegmatite 2 Quartz Syenite Host
Gneiss-Unsubdivided 3 Adjacent

Lithology Comments

Jan 10, 2012 (A Wilson) - In places the pegmatite is highly feldspathic (red microcline) with a very low quartz content but for the most part it contains green to black hornblende. The more hornblendic parts tend to be plagioclase-rich. An inclusion of coarse-grained syenite within the pegmatite has a marginal concentration of hornblende. A radioactive zone is found along the southern contact of the pegmatite.

Mineralization Comments

Jan 10, 2012 (A Wilson) - Pink feldspar masses are usually less than 4 inches and rarely 6 inches in diameter. Analyses of eleven samples of pegmatite tested by Mr. Frazer revealed K20 values ranging from 7.95 to 11.33%, averaging 8.79%. Analysis from the feldspar concentrate run through a flotation circuit was: 65.76% SiO2, 21.56% Al2O3, 0.04% Fe2O3, 5.10% Na2O and 6.56% K2O. A composite sample of the pegmatite collected by C. Marmont (OGS) returned the following analysis: 67.93% SiO2, 17.24% Al2O3, 0.32% Fe2O3, 0.26 CaO, 5.09% Na2O, 8.43% K2O and 0.07% MgO. A grab sample of radioactive hornblende material from the pegmatite assayed: 0.04% Nb2O3, 0.059% U3O8, 0.68% ThO2, 0.8 CeO2, 0.05% La2O3, 0.06 Nd2O3, 0.02 PrO2, and 0.05% Y2O3.
