Access Description: From the town of Apsley, travel 2 km east on secondary highway 50. The site is located 0.4 km north of road 504 and about 0.4 km east of Apsley Lake.



Exploration History

1890 - shaft sinking. 10.6 m shaft was sunk on the pegmatite dike.

Lithology Comments

Nov 06, 2013 (A Wilson) - The marble is medium- to coarse-grained gneissic, siliceous marble containing 20-60% siliceous impurities and thin interbeds of amphibole-rich metasedimentary rocks. Rusty-weathering graphitic, and pyrite-pyrrhotite bearing schist also occurs in the vicinity of the shaft. The pegmatite dike is approximately 11 feet wide.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 06, 2013 (A Wilson) - Disseminated graphite is found in pegmatite dikes intruding clastic and siliceous marbles. Flake graphite is disseminated throughout the pegmatite.
