Access Description: Located about 5 Km SW of Silent Lake ( Cardiff township ) in a paragneiss unit. Access is via Hwy 28 and an MNR forest access road.
Province: Grenville
Geological Age: Mesoproterozoic
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - In an area about 150 m by 40 m are repeating lenses of paragneiss carrying sillimanite ( and garnet ). See also : Silent Lake Park, MDI31D16NE00232. Also, OGS 1987, Map P2205 ( Eels Lake ) and GR 11, P24 illustrate the sillimanite, staurolite, cordierite and hypersthene mineralization across the township - a product of regional and contact metamorphism ( around the Loon Lake Pluton ).
