Lithology Comments

Nov 06, 2013 (A Wilson) - Rusty weathering, graphitic pyrite- and pyrrhotite-bearing schist lies on the northeastern edge of a band of marble. The marble is medium- to coarse-grained, gneissic, siliceous calcitic marble containing 20-60% siliceous impurities and commonly contains thin intercalated units of amphibole-rich metasedimentary rocks.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 06, 2013 (A Wilson) - Flake graphite up to ½ inch in size occurs in 8-10 inch wide seams in a zone approximately 3 feet in width. The graphite zone was estimated to average about 25% over the width of the exposure. Where graphite mineralization was observed in the pits, it generally consists of a seam of heavily mineralized flake graphite up to a foot or more thick with disseminations on either side. This heavily mineralized seam varies from a few inches to about a foot, generally within a horizontal distance of 10 - 15 feet or less. Grab samples collected from some pits in 1981 returned assays or 9.07% C of massive graphite over 15 inches; 5.03% C of disseminated graphite over 12 inches and 1.27% C of disseminated graphite over 12 inches. The weighted average is 5.01% C over 39 inches. Two narrow zones of syenitic material containing allanite were intersected in drill hole #2.
