Nov 06, 2013 (A Wilson) - Graphite was observed in a 4 foot wide band of tonalitic gneiss. The gneisses north and south of the band contain little or no graphite. The feldspathic paragneiss strikes N80W and dips 50º S.

Nov 06, 2013 (A Wilson) - Disseminated graphite flakes ranging from 1/8to ¼ of an inch in diameter were observed in a 4 foot wide band of gneiss. The richest zone occurs on a slip in this band parallel to the gneissic structure. A shallow pit just south of the creek exposes a rusty siliceous gneiss in which some bands carry a few flakes of fine- to coarse-graphite. Hewitt estimated that the band contained 8-10% graphite over the 4 foot width of the band. A small pit just south of the creek exposes rusty paragneiss with a few large flakes of graphite.
