Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Calcite Marble 1 Graphitic Host
Syenite 2 Gneissic Adjacent

Lithology Comments

Nov 06, 2013 (A Wilson) - Gneissic alkali feldspar syenite and alaskite, minor pyroxene monzonite and fine-grained alaskite dikes lie adjacent to, and intrude the graphitic marble. The marble is medium- to coarse-grained, gneissic, siliceous calcitic marble containing 20-60% siliceous impurities and commonly contains thin intercalated units of amphibole-rich metasedimentary rocks.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 06, 2013 (A Wilson) - Graphite is exposed in four different areas. The graphite comprises between 2 and 3% of the marble in a series of pits adjacent to the railway and a small lake in lot A concession 20. Graphite was also observed in a leucosyenite which carries 1-2% graphite flake up to ¼ inch in size. At the adit, the marble carries approximately 5-8% graphite flake up to ¼ inch in size. A series of 4 showings are found along a 1.2 km strike length.
