Lithology Comments

Jan 31, 2017 (A Wilson) - The deposit was opened for molybdenum in 1917. Development consisted of two shafts, 9 m and 12 m deep, and an open-cut. A concentrator was built on the site. About 78 t of ore were shipped from the deposit. Mine dumps are adjacent to the cement foundation of the concentrator. The mine is on the property of Mr. Orme.

Mineralization Comments

Jan 31, 2017 (A Wilson) - In places, the veins are wholly composed of a crushed aggregate of phlogopite in books as much as 10 inches in diameter, but mainly less than 3 inches and sometimes a quarter of an inch in diameter. Two trenches, the largest being 21 m long by 3 m wide by 1.8 m to 3 m deep, expose a series of gneiss-hosted veins. Veins contain phlogopite, scapolite, pyroxene, calcite and graphite. In places most of the vein comprises crushed phlogopite aggregate in books ranging from very small to 25 cm across (Satterly 1943b p. 58). A carload of scrap mica and a little sheet mica were produced.

Dec 07, 2005 (D Laidlaw) - TYPE: APATITE VARIETY TRILLIUMITE MINED AS GEM.
