Apr 14, 2011 (A Wilson) - The clay is a finely varved reddish brown clay (Saugeen clay) and reddish sand, the bands of which are rarely over ¾ of an inch in thickness. The clay deposit ranges from 15-20 feet in thickness and is underlain by white quartz sand. Less than 1 foot of clay-loam and roots is stripped from the surface as waste.
Apr 14, 2011 (A Wilson) - The clay has a typical chemical analysis of 58.16% SiO2, 16.6% Al2O3, 7.35% Fe2O3, 2.70% CaO, 2.73% MgO, 2.08% Na2O, 4.03% K2O, 0.86% TIO2.
