Lithology Comments

Aug 02, 2013 (A Wilson) - The gabbro is the northernmost of a group of gabbroic bodies that occur along the tectonite zone which marks the southeastern edge of the Novar subdomain. The western margin of the gabbro has a zone (8 m wide) consisting of fine- to medium-grained, foliated gabbro. This zone is immediately adjacent to a very coarse-grained gabbro which fines eastward. The outcrop displays irregular, moderate to intensive jointing. Sheared, flaggy granitic gneiss in scattered low rounded outcrops. Gneissic, banded, and tightly folded pink and grey with garnet porphyroblasts and pegmatitic pods. Moderately to intensely jointed with small local xenoliths and mafic clots. Potential flagstone resource with heavy lichen cover requires further prospecting and stripping.

Mineralization Comments

Apr 04, 2011 (A Wilson) - Limited outcrop exposure makes building stone assessment difficult. Local sub-horizontal sheeting at 0.3 to 0.7 m spacings is evident. Jointing is generally closely spaced and irregular in nature. An outcrop of quartzo-feldspathic paragneiss is located approximately 75 m east. It is moderately jointed but is mineralogically inconsistent.
