Access Description: The deposit is located approximately 6.4 km east-northeast of the village of Dorset and 32 km east-southeast of the town of Huntsville. Highway 35 runs 6.4 km to the east of the deposit and is linked to it by a gravel road.
Beside Loon Bay, in drift, is a yellow-brown ochre deposit containing 33 per cent of its weight in sand. The deposit was worked around 1896 and yielded deep brown burnt ochre; total capacity of the plant was about 3 tons per day (OFR 5425, p.227).
