Mineralization Comments

Aug 03, 2011 (A Wilson) - The dike is composed of approximately 75% reddish potassium feldspar and quartz. A small amount of black mica in books up to 3 inches across also was observed. Coarse segregations of the feldspar and quartz were observed in the eastern-most portions of the dike. Some small brownish allanite crystals were observed in the dike. The radioactive minerals become more abundant to the east. Allanite crystals at the eastern end of the dike range up to 1.5 inches wide and up to 10 inches in length. Allanite up to 3% U3O8 occurs along the length of the dike, but the richer minerals are almost always confined to the highly segregated central portion. Grab samples collected from the dike in lots 2 and 3, circa 1920 returned values of 0.26% U3O8, and 0.37% U3O8. A 3 foot long grab sample collected from lot 3 assayed 0.45% U3O8.
