Lithology Comments

Jan 04, 2012 (A Wilson) - The pegmatite dike trends N10-15E and dips at 50 W. Feldspar forms a zone ranging from 4-20 feet thick on the footwall. A zone of quartz crystals (10-25 feet) forms the centre of the dike. The dike has an exposed width of 50 feet, but it may continue westward.

Mineralization Comments

Jan 04, 2012 (A Wilson) - Buff microcline forms masses as large as 1.5 to 2 feet in the footwall and in the hanging wall, microcline and plagioclase form an aggregate. The microcline assayed 64.71% silica, 19.47% alumina, 0.07% ferric iron, 0.21% lime, 0.23% potash, 12.73% soda. The plagioclase assayed 62.461% silica, 24.26% alumina, 0.14% ferric iron, 3.69% lime, 0.14% potash, 1.07% soda. Satterly observed some muscovite books up to 1 foot in diameter and somewhat stained and spotty. Some muscovite also was observed as crushed aggregate in areas as large as 4 by 6 feet. The largest muscovite book measured 2 by 2 feet and 2.5 feet thick. A wedge-shaped concentration of biotite schist occurs near the north end of the workings. Two carloads each of potash and soda feldspar were shipped from the site in 1941. Total production was 190 tons.
