Point Location Description: Yuill Iron Mine shaft ' 9 ' just S of Broad Creek.
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: Located about 1.6 km E of Hwy 511 and 137 m SE of Broad Creek. It is accessible only by foot.
1889-90 : a pit, about 90 x 15-30 ft and possibly 80 ft deep, on magnetite. The dump was removed in 1898/99 and shipped to Hamilton. It is described in GSC AR Vol 12 (1899) as containing about 2,700 tons of ore, a few hundred tons still reported to remain in 1956. Fe 62.42 %, P 0.01 %, insol. 9.11 % (1899).

Geological Age: Mesoproterozoic
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - A small lens (30 x 9 m) of massive to disseminated magnetite at a mafic volcanic- marble contact within a sequence of interlayered metavolcanics and marble. The mineralization is probably volcanogenic and essentially confined to the pit area. See MDC 20, 1980.
