Exploration History

Mid-1800s: prospecting in the area began. R.W. Ells of the GSC recorded gold mineralization in the early 1900's. 1930's and 40's: Hollinger Gold Mines Limited and Cominco were active in the area. 1983: C.F. Gleeson & V.N. Rampton completed a regional geochemical survey. 1984: Gleeson-Rampton Explorations had airborne EM and magnetic surveys conducted over the property and they mapped the geology of the Clyde property. Trenching located a shear zone. 1985: C.F. Gleeson & Associates Ltd. carried out till sampling. 1988-89: Homestake Mineral Development Company optioned the property and set up a joint venture with Shallow Resources Inc. B horizon soil sampling was carried out in 1988. They excavated and cleaned five trenches. 1991: Gleeson-Rampton Explorations carried out trenching, prospecting and rock sampling (OP91-345). 1993: Trev Corporation carried out an induced polarization-resistivity survey under an option agreement with C. Gleeson. 1994: Freewest Resources Inc. entered into an agreement with Trev Corp. and conducted a diamond drill program. A total of 439m BQ diameter diamond drilling was completed in four holes. 1994-95: Gleeson-Rampton Explorations carried out more trenching, completed a magnetometer and VLF-EM survey, till sampling survey and prospecting program over the property. 1997: Gleeson and Rampton carried out a near surface till sampling survey, prospecting and trenching program, followed by diamond drilling. Two diamond drill holes totalling 195m were completed.
