Exploration History

1961-2 : A. Zavitsky carried out a geoloogical survey and drilled 2 holes (279 and 201 ft) on a copper showing (con 2, lots 20-21). 1968 : Siscoe Metals of Ontario Ltd carried out a geological survey and drilling (5 DDH - 837 m) on the Cu-Au-Ag showing (con 2, lot 22). 1980-2 : geochemical surveys and some geophysics were carried out by Pharoah, Vaughan and Gleeson and then Dungarvon Resources after boulders containing tetrahedrite and gold were found. 1986-8 : the area was part of the extensive exploration programme carried out by Lac Minerals Ltd in this belt (and into Lavant township). 1988-9 : Homestake Minerals Development Co also undertook extensive exploration in the area (the ' Clyde property ', which also extended into Lavant township). 1994-9 : Gleeson, Rampton and Thomas carried out geochemistry, geophysics and drilling. ' Gleeson-Rampton # 2 ' : Gleeson-Rampton located a Au-Cu occurrence (over 300 ppb Au) about 150 m S of Little Green Lake on con 2, lot 21. It was outlined by geochemical surveys. Subsequent drilling by Lac Minerals in 1986 found Au associated with pyritiferous, deformed metasediments.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - Mineralization is hosted in dolomite marble within mafic mylonites of the RLMZ. It is erratic and sparse, consisting of disseminated blebs and streaks of tetrahedrite and rare pyrite and chalcopyrite. The sulphides are usually associated with segregations of white dolomite or quartz veins in the marble. The marble unit has a width of 150-320 m and is at least 4 km in length. The deposit is one of a series of 9, extending 19 km along strike. The mineralization is thought to be syngenetic with the marble.
