Lithology Comments

Jul 05, 2011 (A Wilson) - The host rocks consist of massive to locally layered coarse-grained gabbro, melanogabbro and pegmatoidal gabbro. The exposure is extremely oxidized. Lenticular, northeast trending, south dipping alteration/mineralized zones exist. Alteration consists of silicification, oxidation and sulphidization.

Mineralization Comments

Jul 05, 2011 (A Wilson) - There is approximately 10% disseminated pyrrhotite and pyrite in both the unaltered gabbro and alteration zones. Trace to 3% fine blebs and clots of chalcopyrite also were observed. There are local semi-massive to massive lenses of pyrrhotite and pyrite, and more rarely, local trace molybdenite, bornite and fine-grained galena. The highest combined Pt-Pd concentration obtained by Mangrove Bay was 256 ppm over 0.5 m in gabbro. A combined Pt-Pd value of 220 ppb over 0.75 m was obtained from a weakly silicified gabbro in trench 2. Up to 2.0% Cu was returned from a 0.5 m channel sample from trench 2. A peak value of 0.38% Ni was found in a 0.5 m log sample taken from trench 2. Ni content generally increases with Cu content. Mangrove Bay's sampling returned Co values up to 800 ppm from Trench 3. Trench 3 also returned values up to 408 ppm Cr. The prospect has been described a two flat-lying lenses containing about 1% combined (Ni+Cu), the larger body being approximately 90 by 155 m in area and 6-15 m thick. Raglan Nickel Mines intersected metagabbro and pyroxenite rock mineralized with pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and pyrite varying from 0.03 to 0.77% Cu and 0.02 to 1.08% Ni over widths ranging between 2.2 to 49.0 ft wide. The best intersection reported is 30 ft wide averaging 0.25% Cu and 0.32% Ni and included a 4.0 ft interval assaying 0.77% Cu and 1.08% Ni. Diamond drilling by First Nickel returned 0.47% Ni, 0.64% Cu, 0.037 gpt Pt and 0.168 gpt Pd over 5.8 m in FNB004 and 0.86% Ni, 2.50% Cu, 0.20 gpt Pt and 0.315 gpt Pd over 1 m in FNB005.
