Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Pegmatite 1 Zoned Host
Granodiorite 2 Gneissic Contains

Lithology Comments

Feb 27, 2012 (A Wilson) - A zoned, pink granite pegmatite Intruding biotite gneiss is exposed for 60 feet along strike. The wall zones are graphic granite pegmatite with erratic muscovite. Limited exposures of pegmatite on both sides of the open cut indicate that the pegmatite may be a dike about 50 feet wide. It can be traced to the southeast for an additional 120 feet where it passes under a swamp. The country rock is a dark green, fine-grained biotite gneiss, probably a granitized paragneiss. The gneissic structure in an exposure north of the dump strikes N.35° E., and dips 50° NW.

Mineralization Comments

Feb 27, 2012 (A Wilson) - Pyrochlore and fergusonite or samarskite are present. The wall zones are estimated at 0.1% U3O8 over widths of 1.5 to 2.0 metres. In 1954, the property was mined for feldspar with an open cut 150 by 30 feet. The pyrochlore contains 50% Cb2O5. The quartz core of the dike seems to have a constant width of about 4.5 m. The wall zone makes up most of the dike.
