Access Description: The deposit is located in a ridge that extends north from the east bank of the York River. Access is by canoe or boat on the York River.



Exploration History

1906: The Canada Corundum Company performed exploratory stripping and trenching, as well as bulk sampling. 1915: Some diamond drilling. 1947: Louis Moyd investigated the deposit for the American Abrasive Company. A 5 ton bulk sample was taken and evaluated, indicating a satisfactory nepheline-plagioclase-scapolite product. 1950: Property optioned to Ortona Gold Mines Limited. Further surface work included trenching, bulk sampling, and 1,925 feet of diamond drilling. 1953: Ortona formed Monteagle Minerals Limited to take over development of the property. Monteagle held the property until 1962. Early 1980's Louis and Pauline Moyd of Nepean, Ontario acquired the property.
