Lithology Comments

Dec 02, 2015 (C Papertzian) - A white-pink granite pegmatite intrudes rusty calc-silicate gneisses and marble. 3 radioactive zones have been outlined - the North, Main and South or Boundary showings. There is also the Cliff showing (OGS 1956). See MDC 23 (1981) for detailed description and sections.

Dec 02, 2015 (A Wilson) - The property is located within metasediments of the Grenville Supergroup which include marble, para-amphibolite, biotite gneiss, calc-silicate syenitic gneiss, pyritic gneiss, meta-arkose, quartzose gneiss, syenitic gneiss and nepheline syenite. These rocks are intruded by small syenite and granite bodies and by late granite pegmatite. The metasediments generally strike northeasterly and dip 50 to 80º to the southeast. Uranium mineralization in this area appears to be restricted to the late pegmatites.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 03, 2015 (A Wilson) - Assays from the 1957 drilling program of Mell-Quirke Uranium Mines Ltd. returned assays of 0.08% and 0.03% U3O8; 0.10% U3O8. Assays from the Forefront Uranium Mines Ltd. returned U3O8 values up to 0.055% U3O8 over 1.8 ft. (hole 76-1); 0.065% U3O8 over 3 ft. (hole 76-6); 0.11% U3O8 over 1.5 ft. . The two drilling programs completed in 1976 and 1977 by Forefront plus certain earlier surface work and drilling have tested the potential of the claims. While definite uranium mineralization was found in pegmatites mostly in the central and southern parts of the property, no economic tonnages could be outlined. The North zone averaged 0.5 lbs / ton across 13 ft and 0.2 lbs / ton on the main showing. The North Showing gives assays averaging 0.025% U308 over 104 meters. The Main Showing, about 2.5 meters wide and extending 400 meters along strike, gives average assays of 0.01% U3O8 over 137 meters. Narrow pegmatites of the South Showing give assays of O.O4-0.10% U3O8 (radiometric).
