Jun 13, 2023 (Therese Pettigrew) - The property is underlain by granite, granite pegmatite with bands of amphibolite, marble, and nepheline-plagioclase gneiss. These rocks strike N20 E and dip 35-75 E (Satterly and Hewitt, 1958).

Jun 13, 2023 (Therese Pettigrew) - At the main showing in the south half of lot 5, concession I, radioactive granite pegmatite dikes have been exposed by six bulldozed strippings over a length of 600 feet. These strippings expose dike widths of 2-20 feet. The continuity of dikes from one stripping to the next is not known. The dike material is a leucogranite pegmatite with or without pyroxene. Accessory minerals noted are allanite, uranothorite, zircon, titanite, pyrite, and molybdenite. The average range of geiger readings over pegmatite was 3x-llx with spot-high areas in some trenches, over widths of 2-5 feet, of 30x-60x. A grab sample of a black-to-grey, quartz-rich leucogranite pegmatite taken by the author at a reading of 40x assayed 0.35 per cent U3O8 (radiometric) and 0.16 percent U3O8 (chemical) according to the Provincial Assay Office. No radioactive minerals could be observed in hand samples of this material. The analysis indicates a high thorium content, suggesting that the radioactive mineral is thorite or uranothorite. Two additional showings may be noted. The Boundary showing is near the south boundary of the township in lot 6, concession I. A small pit exposes a rusty-weathering, cream-to-pale-pink leucogranite pegmatite with sparse chloritized hornblende and accessory pyrite. No radioactive mineral was seen. Geiger readings were 7x-8x. The Cliff showing is on lot 4, concession I. A 15-foot cliff and bulldozed stripping above expose amphibolite, marble, and silicated marble with narrow bands of leucogranite pegmatite with or without pyroxene. Geiger readings were 3x-8x with spot-highs to 11x. A packsack drill-hole here intersected bands of granite pegmatite 6.5 and 4.0 feet thick (Satterly and Hewitt, 1958).
