Jun 30, 2011 (A Wilson) - Multiple pits and trenches have been excavated in syenite or hybrid syenitic gneiss containing lenses of corundum. In the northern part of the lot, coarse, hornblende syenite pegmatite also hosts corundum. The southernmost pits are 40 ft by 15 ft and 5 feet deep, and 40 feet by 30 feet and 8 feet deep. The northernmost pits are 50 feet by 25 feet and 10 feet deep, and 25 feet by 12 feet, and 6 feet deep.
