Jun 09, 2011 (A Wilson) - A 15 foot section of marl averaged 92.0% CaCO3, 2.2% MgCO3, 0.15% Fe2O3, and 0.62% insoluble. The dry powder is pale grey with a moderately low brightness. Oil absorption is moderate. The natural particle size is 81% finer than 325 mesh, 58% finer than 10 micron. The crude marl contains 63.5% water; 610 pounds of dry marl are contained in one cubic yard of the crude. The chemical quality is best at the top of the section, decreasing slightly with depth.
