Lithology Comments

May 26, 2011 (A Wilson) - The gneiss was interbedded with the remains of a lens of graphite-rich marble thickening from 6 to 24 inches. Its exposed length was 8 feet. The graphite rich material is interpreted to be marble.

Mineralization Comments

May 26, 2011 (A Wilson) - The graphite content of the pit was estimated to be 30%. Near the top of the pit about 3 feet above the graphite lens, a very little graphite was observed in small masses up to 1 foot in diameter in hornblende gneiss. The graphite occurs as fine-grained, amorphous and coarse flakes disseminated in the impure marble and as a graphite-rich lens in the marble.
