Mineralization Comments

Jun 29, 2011 (A Wilson) - Shipments of corundum were made to the mill at Palmer Rapids in the late 1800's. Corundum occurs as tapered prismatic crystals ranging from 2 to 6 inches in length. The main pit was estimated as being 50 feet long, 25 feet wide with a 12 foot face on the east side and a 5 foot face on the south side. Three samples collected by Murray in 1955 assayed 0.048%, 0.003% and 0.053% U3O8 equivalent.
