Sep 08, 2011 (A Wilson) - In 1929 the face of the clay pit was 12 feet high and consisted of 4 feet of good re-burning clay overlying 8 feet of clay which burns to a light red. Below this lay a buff or cream-burning clay. Clay was removed from two different areas: one being 500 by 500 feet and the other 500 by 200 feet. Both pits were approximately 10 feet deep.
Sep 08, 2011 (A Wilson) - An analysis of the clay from the Henderson brick yard returned: 55.34% SiO2, 19.80% Al2O3, 7.62% Fe2O3, 2.18% CaO, 2.39% MgO, 3.74% K2O and 1.93% Na2O.
