Mineralization Comments

Aug 24, 2011 (A Wilson) - Molybdenite occurs as sparsely scattered flakes within pyroxenitic sections of the intrusion. In 1940, Horwood (ODM) reported that a series of pyrite-molybdenite stringers were exposed in one of the pits for a width of 10 feet. The stringers reportedly dipped NW and were up to 16 inches in width. Coarse and fine-grained pyrite occurs with the molybdenite and some masses of pyrite up to 1 foot thick contain molybdenite flakes that range from 1 inch to 3 inches in diameter. An ore dump on the northeast side of No. 3 pit contained about 2 tons of material of material consisting of pyrite and molybdenite (circa 1944). Diamond drilling reportedly outlined a mineralized lens that contained an estimated 1500 tons of ore averaging about 1% MoS2. Quartz, carbonate and rosettes of specularite were observed lining cavities at the site.
