Sep 09, 2011 (A Wilson) - The marl is described as being a thin, pinkish layer that has a depth of 5 to 7 feet. The material covers approximately 700 acres in water that is 2-3 feet deep.
Sep 09, 2011 (A Wilson) - A 4 foot section of marl analyzed 86.6% CaCO3, 3.0% MgCO3, 0.44% Fe2O3, and 1.24% insoluble. The dry powder is pale grey with a low brightness. The crude marl contains 79.1% water; 350 pounds of dry marl are contained in 1 yd3 of the crude.
