Lithology Comments

Feb 27, 2019 (Sheree Hinz) - The deposit is located near the southwest end of a small syenite intrusion within an amphibolite or hornblende gneiss of unknown origin. The amphibolite is a black, very compact, medium-grained rock composed essentially of hornblende and minor clinopyroxene. Mineralization consists of magnetite as disseminated grains within the amphibolite and as rare massive lenses.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 22, 2011 (A Wilson) - The ore body was reportedly 20 feet thick and dipped approximately 60° SE. A sample of the ore collected in 1914 returned the following analysis: 58.71% Fe, 0.056% Al2O3, 2.05% CaO and 5.7% MgO. A sample collected by the OGS in 1979 assayed: 54.7% Fe, 24.2% FeO, 0.11% TiO2, 0.16% P2O5, 0.01% S and 0.1% V. The mineralization consists of disseminated magnetite. The magnetite also occurs in rare lenses Total production from the site was approximately 4000 tons (3629 tonnes)
