Exploration History

Pre 1909 : A pit 35 ft long, 4-15 ft wide and 1-6 ft deep was sunk on a vein of massive blue hematite (5-6 ft wide) in brecciated marble. There were 9 other pits close by on a zone striking N40E and 175 ft or more long, probably 1,500 ft. Hematite seems to occur throughout the White Lake area in the marble, often associated with quartz veining.

Geology

Province: Grenville

Geological Age: Mesoproterozoic

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - Disseminated hematite occurs in a fault breccia in dolomitic marble (with quartz veining) . This zone appears to be at least 90 m wide and possibly 300 m long. Fe runs about 62 %. The White Lake deposit is very similar to the Fahey deposit and may be a continuation of it.
