Aug 16, 2011 (A Wilson) - The rock is medium- to coarse-grained, pale blue limestone with a variable amount of magnesium. The bedrock is described as being thickly bedded grey and white crystalline limestone. Disseminated pyrite was observed in some locations.

Aug 16, 2011 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected by Goudge from an old quarry in the vicinity returned: Sample135: 0.90% SiO2, 0.22% Fe2O3, 0.26% Al2O3, o.15% Ca3(PO4)2, 86.59% CaCO3 and 11.40% MgCO3. Sample 135A returned: 1.14% SiO2, 0.32% Fe2O3, 0.23% Al2O3, o.12% Ca3(PO4)2, 91.96% CaCO3 and 5.64% MgCO3. A typical analysis from the OGS study published in 1981 is: MA-4-3 11.6% SiO2, 0.4% Fe2O3, 0.1% Al2O3, 21.2% MgO, 28.8% CaCO with a brightness of 84.5
