Sep 09, 2011 (A Wilson) - Satterly described the rock as a light- and dark-grey medium-grained banded marble striking N75W and dipping 60S. The quarries are described as being 150 feet square and 6 feet deep and the other described as 120 feet square and from 5-10 feet deep.
Sep 09, 2011 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected by G.E. Goudge analysed: 4.40% SiO2, 0.56% Fe2O3, 0.32% Al2O3, 0.04% Ca3(PO4)2, 89.32% CaCO3 and 5.25% Mg CO3. The material was reportedly used for building stone. Impurities in the stone include flakes of mica, which in places are present in nodular masses and also a thin, broken band of basic rock.
