Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The relationship of the Champlain deposits (a stratified sandy clay) to the underlying glacial drift can be seen in a gravel pit on this lot (and on lot 23, con 10). Here, a section 20 ft high consists of bouldery gravel at the base and uniformly stratified pebbly sand at the top. Between the sand and the gravel there is a gravel zone of closely compacted pebbles showing a rough stratification.
