Sep 27, 2011 (A Wilson) - Goudge described the stone as consisting of flat beds a few inches to 15 inches thick with occasional interbedded layers of black shale. The quarry was reportedly 300 by 100 feet in area.
Sep 27, 2011 (A Wilson) - A sample collected by Miller in 1903 returned 2.54% SiO2, 0.92% Fe2O3, 2.04% Al2O3, 50.80% CaCO3 and 2.15% Mg CO3. The stone was used for making lime, but may also have been used for local building projects. No production figures are available.
