Point Location Description: Square symbol ' Pb 7 ' near small island off SW shore of Lavergne Bay.

Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: Only accessible by boat. The vein outcrops on the island extension of con 6 and lies beneath the water (4-5 ft) or on the water's edge along the shore of Chats lake.



Exploration History

1908, 1910-11: work by Mr. Campbell. 1916-17 : work carried out by an association that was to be known as the Ottawa Lead and Zinc Company. There was a pit (25 x 15 x 15 ft deep) and a shaft (16 ft deep, on the mainland to the E of the vein), and a coffer dam in the water over the outcrop of the vein. 1925 : the Ottawa Valley Syndicate optioned the property and did some drilling.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - A calcite-galena-barite vein is visible in the Ottawa River at low water. It is 6 in -3 ft wide and outcrops over a length of 70 ft, having a total length of 500 ft. Disseminated galena and some barite occur, but very little sphalerite and pyrite. The vein is located 400 m N of a fault and 1.8 km NW of a fault junction.
