May 07, 2013 (A Wilson) - The clay was reportedly 50 feet thick and was underlain by sand. The clay is described as part of the Champlain clay and is uniformly stratified yellow-brown silt and fine sand, and olive-grey clay and red clay. The layers range in thickness from 2.5 to 5 cm. The clay fraction decreases towards the top. Folded and crumpled bedding with bodies of coarse brown sand is common near the base.
