May 07, 2013 (A Wilson) - The pit exposes a 3.6 m homogeneous, medium-grained pegmatite of quartz-feldspar intergrowths. The pegmatite is hosted in biotite-quartz-feldspar gneiss.

May 07, 2013 (A Wilson) - Purple fluorspar is found on samples in the rock dump. Small reddish-brown crystals of apatite are found within a small mass of coarsely crystalline white calcite. No apatite or fluorite was observed in 1980.
