Lithology Comments

May 07, 2013 (A Wilson) - A railway cut exposes a large pink syenite pegmatite dike cutting hornblende-plagioclase gneiss. The pegmatite has irregular patches and veins of apatite-fluorite-carbonate. The veins range in sized from 5 cm to 1 m in width and are very irregular in shape. The area is underlain by marble, quartzo-feldspathic gneisses, minor biotite-hornblende paragneisses and calc-silicate gneisses.

Mineralization Comments

May 07, 2013 (A Wilson) - The pegmatite has irregular patches and veins of apatite-fluorite-carbonate with accessory pyrite, pyroxene and uranothorite. One sample assayed 0.53% U3O8 and 1.51% Th. Not all veins show anomalous radioactivity, but those that do have quite high readings.
