Lithology Comments

May 07, 2013 (A Wilson) - The area is underlain by a northerly-trending belt of carbonate and clastic metasediments that varies in width from 4 to 8 km, flanked to the east by gneissic granitic/dioritic rocks, amphibolite schist and gabbro. A 30 m wide band of high-purity dolomitic marble strikes 320º and dips 45º E. The high-purity band is flanked on either side by interlayered calcitic and dolomitic marbles containing up to 10% serpentine and minor amounts of graphite and hematite.
