Aug 31, 2011 (A Wilson) - The limestone is a medium- to fine-grained brown Gull River/Trenton limestone bearing occasional chert nodules and small silicified fossils. In the vicinity of the quarry, the OGS has mapped finely crystalline to lithographic limestone and sub-lithographic limestone to calcarenite.
Aug 31, 2011 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected by Goudge returned the following analysis: 1.80% SiO2, 0.32% Fe2O3, 0.62% Al2O3, 0.04% Ca3(PO4)2, 95.96% CaCO3 and 1.61% Mg CO3. Goudge suggested that the material was a good candidate for quarrying.
