Access Description: 0.8 ml NW of the CNR railway at Douglas, on top of a ridge. The lower of the 2 quarries.

Lithology Comments

Aug 31, 2011 (A Wilson) - Six feet of heavily bedded calcium limestone is exposed beneath 2 feet of rubbly limestone and soil. The upper 5 feet is brownish in colour, fine-grained and mottle with a finely granular, rusty-weathering material. The lowest bed seen contained thin, irregular films of black shale. The stone was used for road metal. The quarry was reportedly 40 feet in the longest dimension and up to 6 feet deep.




Mineralization Comments

Aug 31, 2011 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected by Goudge returned the following analysis: 2.46 SiO2, 0.41% Fe2O3, 0.71% Al2O3, 93.34% CaCO3 and 1.61% Mg CO3.
