May 14, 2013 (A Wilson) - The limestone is described as 8 feet of fine-grained to dense-textured calcium limestone in beds up to 2 feet thick. A net work of thin shaly seams is present in some of the stone and the top bed has a mottled appearance.
May 14, 2013 (A Wilson) - The quarry was formerly worked for dimension stone for building railway culverts. A sample of the limestone collected by Goudge assayed 1.48% SiO2, 0.43% Fe2O3, 0.35% Al2O3, 0.02% Ca3(PO4)2, 96.07 CaCO3, 1.66% MgCO3.
