May 14, 2013 (A Wilson) - Stone was quarried from the north side of the river near the village, where stone also has been quarried from several locations along the bank. The beds range from 6 inches to 3 feet in thickness. The limestone is often interbedded with shale and thin brittle beds of limestone. The quarry was 210 feet long and 75 feet wide and was operated in two benches, the lower being 2 1/2 feet and the upper from 4 to 6 feet high. The lower bench is 15 feet above the river level.
May 14, 2013 (A Wilson) - The stone from this quarry may have been used to construct the bridge at Eganville and in the construction of the Roman Catholic church. The stone is grey and granular in nature and, over time, the stone gains a bluish hue. It wad difficult to obtain substantial quantities of stone that was free of flaws. Stone for heavy construction was easier to obtain.
