1942-3 : staked by W.B.Cameron and developed by the Bonfield Mica Syndicate who mined 2,000 lbs of rough mica. The main working was an open-cut 75 ft long with a face 12-15 ft high and a 20 ft wide bench. 2 small pits were also sunk 20 ft N of the open-cut. Slumping has since obscured much of the pegmatite. The deposit was worked for mica only and feldspar remains in the dump.
Province: Grenville
Geological Age: Mesoproterozoic
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - Pegmatitic dykes and sills are hosted by anorthositic gabbro. The sill on this property is 4.5 m thick in the centre, pinching out at either end of the cut. It is a microcline-albite-quartz -biotite-muscovite pegmatite and may have had a quartz core. The microcline occurred in crystals and masses of 0.3 - 0.6 m (microcline) and 10 cm (albite).
