Lithology Comments

May 13, 2013 (A Wilson) - Sandy Saugeen clay is mined to form bricks. The clay face at the clay pit was approximately 12 feet high and the clay became sandy at depth.




Mineralization Comments

May 13, 2013 (A Wilson) - circa 1906 the plant was making aout 700,000 bricks per year. The Pembroke Brick Company averaged 350,000 bricks per year in a season of 4 months. The clay minerals are illite and minor amounts of montmorillonite. Additional minerals include quartz, soda-lime feldspar, amphibole, dolomite, potash feldspar and calcite.
