It is located 5.25 km E of Dwyer Hill, 3 km W of Moores Corners and 2.5 km S of the main intersection in Richmond. Location Point : 6 km S21W fom Richmond, straddling the CNR line.
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - The total area of the deposit is 2,390 ha (about 5,500 acres) of which about 1,100 ha has peat depths in excess of 1 m. The deposit has an irregular shape and numerous uplands. Peat depths are generally < 1m around the periphery and in most of the bays. 3 areas have peat > 1 m : the largest is in the Richmond Fen (N), 630 ha up to 3 m deep; 3 small areas in the Phragmites Fen (SW arm); a third area, also in the SW arm, is 60 ha in area (long and narrow). There is a variety of vegetative types and some areas contain regionally significant species. The forest cover density is, generally, moderate-high with the lowest density forest cover in the N of the deposit. Stump content 1.7 %. For many years, at the turn of the century, the Richmond Fen was flooded and the Phragmites Fen was burned by deer hunters. The SE arm is presently being drained by a ditch drainage system. The majority of the deposit is located on Patent Land (private).
