Access Description: These are limestone outcrops, mapped in 1917, and shown on a map and described in Memoir 99 (1917).
Outcrops are described with respect to their potential for quarrying.
Province: Paleozoic and Mesozoic Basins
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - Oxford Formation (Beekmantown) siliceous dolomitic limestone (dolostone) varies from fine to coarse-grained and yellow-grey to dark grey. Generally, it is soft and thin-bedded and sometimes shaley. At location # 89 (lot 13, con 6) the stone had been tested and there were 3 small quarries for building stone. At location # 91 (lot 2, con 3) the limestone had been quarried many years previous to 1917. At location # 117 (lot 11, con 3) a Precambrian, white-brown massive quartzite outcropped - it had been prospected for gold.
