Pre-1898-1930s : Robillard and Sons quarried stone for 'structural' and 'building' purposes. There were many old quarries in this area ('The Quarries') and theirs was the largest. They had quarries operating over an area of 6 acres to a depth of 10 ft (a 16 ft face in 1917). Stone of varying dimensions was produced and shipped mostly throughout the Ottawa Valley. Some of the stone was used for finishings over coarser stone and was used in the Banque Nationale, Sacred Heart church.... Crushed stone, and probably lime, were also produced.
