Point Location Description: Quarry symbol 2.3 km W of Rothwell Heights.
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: At St. Laurent Boulevard, N of old Hwy 17. In an escarpment a short distance NE of Notre Dame cemetary.
Pre-1938 : quarry of the T. Sidney Kirby Co Ltd, operated for crushed stone. The quarry covered about 350 square feet in 1938 - 34 ft face differentiated into 2 types. Now sterilized, within the city.
Province: Paleozoic and Mesozoic Basins
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - Bobcaygeon Formation limestone - brown-grey, very heavy in the upper, 16 ft face, with irregular beds that tend to split along very thin seams of black shale. The lower, 18 ft, of face is fine-grained, hard and dark blue-grey in 2-6 inch beds with black shale partings.
