Point Location Description: Point at mouth of Green Creek.
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: An area along the S bank of the Ottawa River, bounded by 75 degrees 31 mins W and 75 degrees 36 mins W longitude and 45 degrees 25 mins N and 45 degrees 30 mins N latitude. The nodules are washed out along the river bank between Hiawatha Park (formerly Besserer's Wharf) and the mouth of Green Creek.
Fossil collecting site : calcareous nodules containing plants.
Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - Calcareous nodules are confined to what is thought to be a reworked stratified clay unit laid down in freshwater. This is derived fom an underlying, older, massive marine clay unit. The nodules date to about 10,000 B.P., near the close of the Champlain Sea episode.
